Explore is not only committed to sustainability on our trips, but also at home in our Farnborough HQ as well. On the 22 September we celebrated World Carfree Day by hosting our annual Explore By Any Other Means initiative, encouraging our staff to leave their cars at home and make their way to the office by any other means possible.
Over a quarter of our staff ditched their cars for the day and rode, ran, trained, bussed, walked and even scooted into work. Their efforts were rewarded with bacon and sausage butties, prize draws donated by local businesses and goodie bags full of healthy snacks.
Here are a few of our favourite commuter stories:
Operations Manager Yvonne scooted over five miles along the Basingstoke Canal – unsurprisingly this won her the award of Most Imaginative Mode of Transport, and a hamper full of goodies.
Family Programme Manager Antony Barton endured a whopping 26-mile commute from his house – but managed to snap several beautiful images along the way.
Americas Product Manager Carmel Hendry commuted in from London and took these stunning photos of the capital. She also won a £50 voucher donated by our local Decathlon store.
Admin Manager Anna, Product Director John Telfer and Product Support Cathy Barton enjoyed a team bike ride in together in their coordinating fluorescent bibs.
